As a sequel to the three-day Holding Space masterclass of Mensj  from 9th till 11th October, HUMMUS is organizing an advanced two-day masterclass, also with Heather,  in which we will focus primarily on "navigating the complexities of liminal space" and "being trauma-informed".

Content of the masterclass

At this masterclass, we will deepen our understanding of what it means to hold space. Building on the basic concepts learned in introductory holding space workshops, we will explore what it means to hold space in transformational time and space, where there is chaos or disruption. We'll explore the concept of transition instead of change and the importance of liminal space and how to hold space when people, organisations or a society goes through those liminal spaces.

We’ll talk about what it takes to increase the amount of safety and belonging available to people in our spaces so that they are able to step into brave conversations that bring about meaningful transformation.

In this interactive masterclass, advanced practitioners will have the opportunity to practice hosting and participating in challenging conversations so that they are more prepared to offer this skill in their workplaces, in public fora, in community organizations, families, etc.

In the return meeting, there's the possibility to reflect on your learnings and share your experience to deepen with each other the concepts of holding space in daily life.

For who?

As we will be covering more advanced topics, this class is intended for those with prior understanding of the concepts of holding space, either from having studied previously with the Centre for Holding Space, or from having studied the Art of Deep Democracy.

Preparation

We recommend reading the book of Heather : "The art of holding space" , also translated in Dutch by Mayke Smit and Pasha Elstak, "De kunst van holding space"
